Rochester, New York – Organizations across upstate New York are being invited to step forward and showcase their achievements, as the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce announces the opening of applications for the 2026 Performance Excellence Awards. The initiative, led by its affiliate the Greater Rochester Quality Council, aims to spotlight organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Applications are now officially open and will be accepted through May 31, 2026, giving businesses and institutions several weeks to prepare their submissions. The program is designed not only as a competition but as a learning opportunity—one where participants can take a closer look at how their operations function and where improvements can still be made.

“Through the awards program, we seek to discover, recognize and learn from high-performing organizations in the Greater Rochester area.”

That guiding idea sits at the center of the awards. Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, the program places equal weight on the processes behind success. Applicants are encouraged to reflect on their strategies, leadership approaches, and customer engagement practices. In doing so, many find value that extends well beyond the awards themselves.

Participation is open to a wide range of organizations. Small startups, mid-sized firms, and large enterprises are all eligible, alongside nonprofits, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and government agencies. The geographic reach is equally broad, covering not just the Greater Rochester area but also Western and Central New York. This diversity ensures a mix of perspectives, industries, and experiences.

Applicants can compete across several categories, including Organizational Excellence, Team Excellence, and Customer Experience. Each category highlights a different aspect of performance, from leadership and operational strength to collaboration and service quality. Together, they paint a fuller picture of what it means to excel in today’s complex environment.

Beyond recognition, the application process itself offers tangible benefits. Organizations often gain fresh insights into their internal systems, identifying both strengths and areas that may need attention. There is also the opportunity to connect with other leaders who share a similar focus on improvement and innovation. These connections, while less visible than awards, can have lasting value.

Winners will be announced later in the year at the Annual GRQC Showcase and Awards event, set to take place on October 20, 2026. The venue, the Memorial Art Gallery, provides a fitting backdrop for an evening that celebrates achievement, collaboration, and forward-thinking leadership.

For those considering applying, additional details about the criteria and submission process are available through the program’s official channels. Organizers have also provided a direct contact for questions, ensuring that interested participants can receive guidance as they prepare their entries.

As the deadline approaches, the message from organizers is clear—this is more than just an award. It is a chance for organizations to pause, reflect, and measure how far they have come, while also setting the stage for what comes next.
