Two Mahopac men arrested after investigators say juvenile dispute escalated into physical altercations in Somers

New York – Two adults have been arrested in connection with a physical altercation involving two juveniles in Somers, New York, after a State Police investigation found that an ongoing dispute between the teenagers had escalated over several days.

The investigation began after New York State Police in Somers were called to Westchester Medical Center at approximately 1:34 a.m. on August 20, 2026. Troopers were responding to a report of an assault involving a 14-year-old male who had been injured during an earlier physical confrontation.

According to State Police, the teenager suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators with the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers determined that the incident grew out of a dispute between two male juveniles, ages 14 and 15. Both teenagers are from Mahopac.

The dispute reportedly began on August 18, when the two juveniles were at Somers Commons, located at 80 Route 6 in the town of Somers. A verbal argument took place between them that day.

The situation did not end there.

On August 19, the two juveniles were again at Somers Commons. Their continuing disagreement escalated, this time into a physical altercation, according to investigators.

Following that confrontation, State Police said two adults were contacted and later arrived at the location. They were identified as 39-year-old Evad Vucetovic of Mahopac and 37-year-old Alban Gjevukaj of Carmel.

The investigation determined that Vucetovic became involved in the dispute and instructed the two juveniles to engage in another physical altercation as a way of resolving their disagreement.

During that incident, investigators said Gjevukaj pulled a sweatshirt over the head of one of the juveniles.

State Police continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercations and the involvement of the two adults. The investigation ultimately led to arrests on August 21.

Vucetovic was arrested and charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both Class A misdemeanors. He was arraigned in Town of Somers Court and released on his own recognizance.

Gjevukaj was also arrested on August 21. He was charged with Harassment in the Second Degree, which is a violation.

Gjevukaj appeared in Somers Town Court for his arraignment and, like Vucetovic, was released on his own recognizance.

The case involves two juveniles whose disagreement reportedly developed from a verbal argument into multiple physical confrontations within a matter of days. State Police did not report life-threatening injuries to either teenager in the information released about the investigation.

The arrests followed the work of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers, which examined the events surrounding the August 19 confrontation and the actions of the adults who became involved afterward.

Authorities have not indicated that the juveniles themselves were charged in connection with the incident. The two adults now face separate charges based on their alleged involvement in the events.

The investigation highlights how a dispute that initially began as a verbal confrontation can quickly become more serious when additional people become involved. In this case, State Police said the ongoing disagreement between the two teenagers eventually led to another physical confrontation and resulted in criminal charges against two adults.

The case remains connected to the events investigated by New York State Police following the teenager’s treatment at Westchester Medical Center. The 14-year-old’s reported injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Both Vucetovic and Gjevukaj were released on their own recognizance following their respective court appearances in Somers. Further court proceedings will determine how the charges against the two men move forward.
