Somers National Golf Club restaurant manager charged after police investigate theft of cash and business proceeds

New York – A Somers restaurant manager has been arrested after New York State Police said he was involved in a series of theft-related incidents at Somers National Golf Club, including the burglary of the club’s clubhouse.

David Chung, 37, of Somers, is facing charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a class C felony; Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, a class D felony; and Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a class D felony. The arrest followed an investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers into several incidents in Westchester County.

According to State Police, the investigation began with an incident reported on July 25. Investigators said Chung obtained a total of $4,800 from two individuals after telling them the money was needed to pay for repairs to damage they had caused at Somers National Golf Club.

The golf club, located at 1000 West Hill Drive in Somers, was preparing for an event scheduled for the following day. Police said Chung claimed the money was necessary to address the damage before that event.

The following day, July 26, State Police were called to the golf club after approximately $12,000 in business proceeds was reported missing. As investigators worked to determine what had happened, they identified Chung as a person connected to the case.

Chung was employed as a restaurant manager at Somers National Golf Club, according to State Police.

The investigation took another turn four days later when police were again called to the golf club, this time after a reported burglary. Investigators determined that someone had forcibly entered the clubhouse during the early morning hours.

Police said Chung was responsible for the break-in and that he stole more than $2,600 in checks and cash. Investigators also determined that multiple golf bags were taken from the property. The bags contained golf clubs and other equipment with an estimated value of about $9,500.

The incidents resulted in several felony charges against Chung as investigators continued examining the circumstances surrounding the reported thefts and burglary.

State Police arrested Chung on August 7, 2026. He was subsequently arraigned, and the court set bail at $15,000 cash, $30,000 bond, or a $60,000 partially secured bond.

Chung is scheduled to return to the Town of Somers Court on August 10 at 5:30 p.m.

The investigation was conducted by members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers. The charges are allegations, and Chung is entitled to due process as the case moves through the court system.
