Rochester, New York – Families across Monroe County will once again have the chance to enjoy free outdoor movie nights this summer as County Executive Adam Bello has announced the full schedule for the 2026 edition of Movies in the Park.

The annual program, which has become a popular warm-weather tradition for many residents, will bring six family-friendly screenings to parks and community venues throughout the county between June and August. The series offers an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to gather outdoors and enjoy films under the evening sky at no cost.

This year’s lineup carries a special theme tied to a major national milestone. As the United States marks its 250th birthday in 2026, organizers have selected a collection of films that celebrate American storytelling and feature characters and themes that have resonated with generations of moviegoers.

“To celebrate this year’s 250th Birthday of the United States, we’re featuring great American classics beloved by the entire family,” said County Executive Bello. “Bring some popcorn and a blanket to ESL Ballpark, Seneca Park Zoo or one of our other parks for this year’s installment of Movies in the Park.”

The season will officially begin on Friday, June 26, at Ontario Beach Park with a screening of Captain America: Winter Soldier. The superhero adventure will launch a summer schedule that spans several well-known Monroe County destinations.

A few weeks later, on Thursday, July 16, movie fans will head to ESL Ballpark for a showing of Rocky, one of the most recognizable sports films ever produced. The venue will host a second screening later in the season as well.

Families with younger children may be particularly excited about the July 24 event at Seneca Park Zoo, where audiences can watch Zootopia 2. The zoo will also welcome visitors again on August 28 for a screening of Pixar’s beloved animated film Cars.

Meanwhile, Highland Park will serve as the backdrop for a screening of Disney’s Frozen on August 14, offering another family-focused evening in one of the county’s most popular outdoor spaces.

The final weeks of the program will continue with Miracle at ESL Ballpark on August 20 before the season concludes eight days later at Seneca Park Zoo.

All screenings are scheduled to begin at dusk, which organizers note is generally about 30 minutes after sunset. For events hosted at ESL Ballpark, gates will open at 7 p.m., giving attendees time to arrive, find their seats, and settle in before the movies begin.

The free series continues to provide residents with a simple and affordable way to enjoy summer evenings while exploring some of Monroe County’s most recognizable recreational destinations. Whether visitors are drawn by animated favorites, sports dramas, or superhero adventures, the 2026 Movies in the Park schedule offers something for nearly every age group.
