Penfield, New York – The Penfield Trails Committee is inviting residents and visitors to get outdoors this June with two free guided hiking events designed to highlight local parks, natural landscapes, and community history. The events will take place at Abraham Lincoln Park and Channing H. Philbrick Park, offering two very different but equally scenic experiences.

The first hike is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Abraham Lincoln Park, located at 1559 Empire Blvd. Participants will be guided through a mix of wooded uplands and trail connections leading toward the bay shore. The route is expected to showcase the natural ups and downs of the county park, giving hikers a closer look at its varied terrain and quiet natural spaces.

Organizers say participants should enter the park from the Empire Blvd. side, using the north side playground entrance. The group will gather at the parking lot before starting the hike. Visitors are encouraged to look for the hike signs that will help guide them to the meeting point.

The second event, a pop-up hike, will take place later in the month on Monday, June 29 at 6:00 PM at Channing H. Philbrick Park. This evening hike will focus more on local history and the role the park has played in shaping the Penfield area.

Participants will meet at the upper parking lot before beginning the walk. The trail follows scenic sections of Irondequoit Creek, offering both natural beauty and historical context. The committee plans to share insights about how the park connects to Penfield’s past while exploring its present-day importance as a community space.

Unlike structured tours, the pop-up hike is designed to feel informal and flexible, giving attendees a chance to learn while walking through one of the town’s most recognizable green spaces. Organizers again advise attendees to watch for hike signs to find the correct starting point.
