Ontario man faces multiple felony charges after a violent domestic incident reported at a Wayne County residence
New York – An Ontario man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a violent domestic incident reported in Wayne County, according to the New York State Police.
State Police identified the suspect as Thomas G. Witt, 55, of Ontario, New York. He was arrested after an investigation into a domestic dispute that allegedly took place at a residence on Ridge Road in the town of Williamson.
Police say the incident occurred on the morning of December 22, 2025, but was reported the following day. On December 23, troopers from State Police Williamson responded to the complaint and began an investigation into what had happened inside the home. According to authorities, the investigation revealed a serious and escalating confrontation involving an adult female victim.
Investigators determined that Witt unlawfully entered the residence and became involved in a physical altercation with the victim. During the incident, police allege that Witt obstructed the victim’s breathing, an act that significantly raised the level of danger. Authorities also say Witt threatened the victim with a knife and made statements that caused her to fear for her life.
In addition to the physical violence, investigators allege that Witt prevented the victim from contacting emergency services. Police say this further intensified the situation and limited the victim’s ability to seek immediate help during the incident.
After gathering evidence and confirming Witt’s location, members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation located him later that day at a residence on Route 104 in the town of Ontario, Ontario County. Witt was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Following his arrest, Witt was charged with a series of serious offenses. These include burglary in the first degree involving the use or threat of a dangerous instrument, a class B felony, and strangulation in the second degree, a class D felony. He was also charged with criminal contempt in the first degree for allegedly violating an order of protection while making threats and using a weapon.
Additional felony charges include criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree due to a prior conviction and aggravated family offense. Witt is also facing misdemeanor charges of menacing in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, along with a violation charge of harassment in the second degree.
After processing at State Police Williamson, Witt was transported to the Wayne County Jail, where he was held for Centralized Arraignment Part proceedings.
New York State Police emphasized that domestic violence incidents are taken seriously and encouraged anyone experiencing abuse or threats to seek help and report incidents as soon as it is safe to do so. The investigation remains ongoing as the case proceeds through the court system.
