Supervisor Leenhouts recognizes the outstanding dedication and years of service of Kathy Anderson in the October staff spotlight celebration
Penfield, New York – At the Penfield Town Hall, the Building Department is one of the busiest places in the building, constantly buzzing with residents, contractors, and inspectors. Keeping it all running smoothly is Kathy Anderson, whose hard work and professionalism have earned her recognition as the October Staff Spotlight honoree.
For the past seven and a half years, Kathy has been a cornerstone of the department, serving as a clerk who helps make the permitting and inspection process seamless for everyone involved. Whether it’s assisting a homeowner with a building permit, coordinating inspections, or supporting the Fire Marshal in organizing annual fire and safety checks, Kathy’s friendly presence and attention to detail have made her an invaluable part of the Town of Penfield team.
“Kathy has been a consistently reliable presence in our department for many years,” stated Building and Zoning Department Head Allen Reitz. “Her strong work ethic and punctuality ensure that daily tasks are always completed to a high standard, supporting the entire team’s productivity.”
Anyone who has visited the Building Department knows Kathy is often the first person they see and the first to offer help. Her calm and patient demeanor, even on the busiest days, sets the tone for the department’s reputation of being efficient and welcoming. Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts highlighted these qualities in his remarks celebrating Kathy’s contributions to the town.
“Kathy’s commitment to providing amazing customer service is second to none,” said Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts. “In one of our busier offices, she always makes sure the experience for residents and contractors is the best it can be. We are lucky to have her on our team.”
Before beginning her career with the Town of Penfield, Kathy gained valuable experience in two other key roles within the community. She spent nine years working in the Kodak Patent-Legal Department, followed by five years with the Penfield Central School District, where she honed her organizational and administrative skills. Those years of experience, combined with her deep familiarity with the community, have made her an asset to the Town’s operations.
Kathy is also a lifelong Penfield resident who takes pride in calling the town home. She raised her family here and continues to be active in local life. Outside the office, she enjoys spending her free time on the golf course at Shadow Lake, playing Euchre and other games with friends and family, and cheering passionately for her favorite teams — the Buffalo Bills and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Her colleagues describe her as dependable, upbeat, and always willing to lend a hand. Even during the busiest permit seasons, Kathy maintains her sense of humor and positive attitude, keeping the department organized and the workflow steady. Her reliability and dedication embody the spirit of public service that Penfield strives for across all departments.
Supervisor Leenhouts’ recognition of Kathy in this month’s Staff Spotlight shines a well-deserved light on her years of commitment, professionalism, and warmth. The Town of Penfield extends its gratitude for her continued service — a reminder that behind every efficient department is someone like Kathy, quietly ensuring that everything runs as it should.
