Proposed 2026 town budget maintains flat tax rate as residents invited to speak at November 5 public hearing
Pittsford, New York – At the October 21, 2025 Town Board meeting, Town Supervisor Bill Smith unveiled his proposed 2026 Town Budget, presenting a spending plan that keeps the Town tax rate unchanged for another year. Despite inflationary pressures and growing community needs, the proposal maintains full funding for all current services and popular town events without raising taxes.
“The Supervisor’s budget holds the Town tax rate flat – with no increase to the tax rate,” the Town announced, emphasizing that residents will not see any change in their property tax rate for the coming fiscal year. Smith’s plan continues the town’s recent streak of fiscal stability, ensuring that community programs, public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and cultural events will continue to receive full financial support.
The next opportunity for residents to share feedback on the proposed budget will come during a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall public meeting room (lower level). Town officials noted that the session falls on a Wednesday, rather than the usual Tuesday meeting day, due to Election Day taking place earlier that week.
Public participation remains a cornerstone of the budgeting process. Residents may offer comments in several ways—either by attending the meeting in person, submitting remarks during the live stream, or sending feedback via email before 2:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Written comments can be directed to [email protected].
For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be live streamed, and details for accessing the broadcast or submitting digital comments will be available in the agenda packet. The agenda itself will be posted online at least two days before the meeting at www.townofpittsford.org/minutes. To ensure accessibility for all residents, ASL interpretation will be provided.
Residents looking for more details about the proposed 2026 Town Budget can review the complete documents both in print and online. Hard copies are available in the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall, while digital versions—including Supervisor Smith’s full budget presentation and accompanying memo—are posted at www.townofpittsford.org/budgets.
Smith’s budget presentation underscores the Town’s effort to maintain a careful balance between financial prudence and community investment. By keeping the tax rate steady while sustaining existing programs, the Town continues to prioritize fiscal responsibility without cutting valued services.
With the upcoming public hearing set to gather community feedback, residents will soon have a chance to weigh in on how the Town shapes its spending priorities for the year ahead. The proposal reflects a steady hand on the town’s finances, aiming to preserve services and quality of life while avoiding added financial strain for taxpayers.
