Rochester, New York – RIT President Bill Sanders will discuss the university’s direction, plans for artificial intelligence and questions from students during a live appearance on WITR-FM at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.

The interview will be Sanders’ first appearance on the station this fall semester. Now in his second year leading the university, he will take part in the broadcast from the WITR studio in the Student Alumni Union. Listeners can tune in to WITR-FM at 89.7.

The upcoming edition of “Ask President Sanders” will cover a range of university topics, combining a closer look at recent presidential remarks with questions collected from the student body before the program.

Among the scheduled subjects is Sanders’ recent State of the University Address. The radio conversation will provide additional time to explore issues raised in that address, giving listeners a follow-up to his broader presentation about RIT.

The future of artificial intelligence at the university will be another focus. Sanders is set to discuss that subject in connection with the creation of an AI Institute, bringing the university’s plans for AI into the live campus conversation.

Those two subjects form part of a wider discussion rather than the entire program. The appearance is intended to address multiple topics, with student questions also contributing to the exchange.

WITR gathers questions from students in advance of the broadcast. That preparation gives students a way to put issues before the president and helps shape the conversation beyond its announced themes.

The interview also carries forward a longstanding relationship between the student radio station and the President’s Office. For more than two decades, the ongoing series has been a tradition linking the university’s leadership with its campus audience through radio.

Thursday’s broadcast continues that format under Sanders, pairing a live presidential appearance with questions gathered ahead of time. For listeners interested in both his recent address and RIT’s developing approach to artificial intelligence, the program will bring those subjects together in one discussion.
