ROC City Skatepark to temporarily close October 19–22 for scheduled repairs
Rochester, New York – Rochester’s ROC City Skatepark will temporarily close from Monday, October 19, through Thursday, October 22, while crews complete scheduled repairs to its original section. The affected area is expected to reopen Friday, October 23, weather permitting.
The closure will give city staff and contractors access to address repair and maintenance needs in Phase 1. That work comes as construction on the skatepark’s second phase approaches completion, bringing the expanded facility closer to opening.

Alongside the repair announcement, the city is asking visitors to respect fences and other closures around construction areas. Skateboarding, biking, and other activities on unfinished surfaces can damage recent work and push back the opening of the full facility.
“We understand people are eager to get back in and skate, but we need everyone to give our crews the time and space they need to finish this project the right way,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “We’re in the final stretch, and I’m asking our incredible skatepark community to help us get across the finish line. Please stay out of the construction areas and let the crews do their work.”

The expected October 23 reopening applies to the area affected by the scheduled repairs. The expanded facility has a separate timeline, with the city expecting it to reopen before the end of the year as Phase 2 construction wraps up.
Once completed, ROC City Skatepark will be the largest skatepark in New York State, according to the city. For now, officials are asking users to give contractors room to finish the remaining work and avoid entering any fenced or closed sections.
The city thanked the skatepark community for its patience and cooperation. Details about the temporary closure are available in the City of Rochester’s repair announcement.
