Penfield, New York – As June arrives and the school year begins to wind down, Penfield is preparing for one of its busiest and most festive seasons of the year. Town Supervisor Jeff Berry is encouraging residents to take advantage of a summer calendar filled with parades, live music, family activities and community gatherings.

Independence Day celebration returns June 27

The centerpiece of the summer schedule is Penfield’s annual Independence Day Celebration, set for Saturday, June 27. The town’s long-running parade tradition will begin at 10 a.m., stepping off from Penfield High School and traveling along Penfield Road before ending at the Penfield Community Center.

Town officials expect another strong turnout from residents lining the parade route, which has become one of Penfield’s signature community traditions.

The festivities will continue in Harris Whalen Park beginning at 6 p.m., where visitors can expect food, music and family-friendly entertainment. About a dozen food trucks are expected to participate, offering a variety of dining options throughout the evening.

Live music will be provided by The Morgan Twins, who are scheduled to headline the celebration before the evening concludes with Penfield’s annual fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Town officials also outlined the rain plan for the holiday celebration. If bad weather affects the daytime parade, it will not be rescheduled. However, the evening activities at Harris Whalen Park would move to Sunday, June 28 at the same location and times.

A weeklong celebration for America’s 250th birthday

This year’s Independence Day festivities will extend beyond a single day as the town joins in the national observance of America’s 250th birthday.

Berry said Penfield wanted to expand its programming beyond the traditional holiday celebration, creating a week of events designed for families and residents of all ages.

Among the scheduled activities are:

• History Hike — June 29
• Ice Cream Social — July 1
• Outdoor screening of “The Sandlot” — July 2 at the Penfield Amphitheater

Town leaders say there will be something happening every day leading up to the Fourth of July holiday. A full schedule of the Penfield 250 events is available on the town’s website at penfieldny.gov/penfield250 .

Summer Concert Series brings free entertainment to the amphitheater

Beyond the holiday celebrations, Penfield’s Summer Concert Series is also returning to the Penfield Amphitheater, continuing a popular tradition of free live entertainment throughout the season.

The concert series features a mix of performances aimed at all age groups, including children’s concerts and appearances by well-known local acts such as JUMBOshrimp. The town emphasized that the series remains free for the community, making it one of the most accessible summer entertainment options in the area.

As in previous years, members of the Penfield Recreation team will grill fresh food items during concert nights, adding to the relaxed, community-focused atmosphere that has helped the series grow in popularity.

The complete concert schedule is available through the town’s official website.

Berry encourages residents to participate

In his seasonal message to residents, Berry reflected on why early summer is such an exciting time for the community.

“The transition to June is always a fun time of the year. School is winding down for students, summer plans are being made, and the Town of Penfield’s event season is kicking into full gear.”

He added that the town is fortunate to once again offer a strong lineup of programs and events throughout the summer months.

“We have a lot to look forward to this summer, and I hope to see you at some of our many events.”

For many residents, the coming weeks mark the unofficial start of summer in Penfield — a season defined by community gatherings, outdoor entertainment and long-standing local traditions.
