NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services opens 18 civil service job applications in June
New York – New York City job seekers have a fresh window of opportunity this month as the Department of Citywide Administrative Services rolls out its June schedule for civil service exams, opening applications for 18 different positions across multiple city agencies.
The exams, which are part of the city’s long-standing competitive hiring system, are designed to assess candidates for a wide range of public sector roles. Most tests are computer-based and held throughout the month, allowing applicants to complete the process after meeting basic eligibility requirements.
To apply, candidates can register online through the official Online Application System or visit designated Computer-Based Testing and Application Centers across the city. The process remains one of the primary gateways into New York City government employment, which spans hundreds of thousands of workers across roughly 80 agencies.
This month’s application cycle, which opened on June 3, includes positions such as administrative energy conservation specialist, associate inspector (electrical), city assessor, consultant (early childhood education), energy conservation specialist, environmental engineer, inspector (consumer and worker protection), management auditor trainee, police communications technician, police officer, and radio repair mechanic.

Alongside these roles, the city is also offering access to what is known as the NYC Bridge Exam. This program allows applicants to be considered for multiple career paths through a single application process. It is designed to streamline entry into various administrative and support positions.
The Bridge Exam list includes child protective specialist, clerical associate, clerical associate (NYC H+H), maintenance worker, secretary, secretary (NYC H+H), and secretary (prom). Officials say this option helps broaden access for job seekers who may be interested in different departments or career tracks within the city system.
Deadlines for applications vary by position, but most are set for June 23. However, some roles follow different timelines. The application window for police officer positions closes earlier on June 15, while the deadline for police communications technician extends to June 30.
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services emphasized that civil service exams remain a central part of how New York City fills many of its public sector jobs. Applicants who pass these tests are placed into eligibility lists used by agencies when hiring for open roles.
Fees for the exams typically range between $40 and $101, depending on the position. Officials note that while the process is structured and competitive, it provides a standardized path for candidates seeking long-term public service careers.
With thousands of applicants expected, June’s exam cycle continues a steady flow of hiring activity across city agencies, from public safety and infrastructure to education and administrative services.
For those interested in applying, more information and full registration details are available through the Department of Citywide Administrative Services website. The agency encourages candidates to review requirements carefully and submit applications before the relevant deadlines to ensure eligibility for testing.
As the city continues to rely on its civil service system to maintain staffing across essential departments, June’s opening once again highlights the scale and structure behind New York City’s public workforce recruitment process.
