New York – Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that Grow Therapy, a fast-growing mental health technology company, will expand its operations in New York City with a major move to a new headquarters in Lower Manhattan. The company, which connects licensed therapists and psychiatrists with patients both in-person and online, has signed a lease for roughly 19,000 square feet at 100 Broadway — a significant step that underscores New York’s growing influence as a national center for health innovation and digital care.

Backed by up to $1.8 million in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits, the expansion will create at least 186 new full-time positions over the next five years. This investment will nearly double Grow Therapy’s current workforce of over 100 employees across New York State and solidify its presence in the city where the company was originally founded.

Governor Hochul praised the announcement as a sign of the state’s growing leadership in the intersection of technology and healthcare.

“Grow Therapy’s decision to expand in Lower Manhattan underscores New York’s commitment to building a vibrant tech sector that creates high-quality jobs, attracts world-class talent and improves access to care for those who need it most,” Governor Hochul said. “By supporting innovative companies and investing in the next generation of technology development, we’re strengthening the foundations of New York’s economy and positioning our state as a national leader in tech-driven growth and opportunity.”

Expanding Mental Health Access Through Innovation

Founded in 2020, Grow Therapy has quickly become one of the most influential platforms in digital mental health. The company’s mission is to make therapy and psychiatric care more affordable and accessible by connecting clients, independent therapists, and insurance providers in a seamless system. Through its easy-to-use platform, Grow helps match individuals with clinicians covered by their health plans — a crucial step in expanding access to care for millions of Americans who struggle to find affordable therapy options.

Grow’s upcoming expansion in New York will focus heavily on technology development and artificial intelligence. The company plans to invest approximately $16 million in research and development, focusing on tools that assist clinicians and streamline the delivery of care. These new efforts will be guided by Grow’s belief that the future of mental health treatment lies in the smart integration of human expertise and technological innovation.

“New York is where Grow began, with a simple Craigslist ad asking mental health providers if they needed help contracting with health insurance,” said Grow Therapy CEO and Co-Founder Jake Cooper. “Today, nearly one million people across the country turn to Grow for effective mental health care, and that kind of momentum starts in New York. As we take on the hard work ahead, we are building clinician-guided artificial intelligence that supercharges care, and we are investing here because this city is a magnet for talented people with grit and purpose. We are grateful to Empire State Development and the Excelsior Jobs Program for their support.”

Grow’s move to 100 Broadway will take effect on Monday, December 1, 2025. The new space will serve as the company’s New York headquarters and house teams focused on technology, operations, and marketing.

State Leaders Applaud Tech-Driven Growth in Healthcare

Empire State Development (ESD), New York’s chief economic development agency, played a major role in supporting Grow Therapy’s expansion. The Excelsior Jobs Program — a key incentive that provides tax credits to companies creating jobs in strategic industries — is part of Governor Hochul’s broader plan to grow the tech sector while promoting health equity and workforce development.

“New York is home to world-class talent and forward-thinking companies driving change in healthcare and technology,” said Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Hope Knight. “Grow Therapy’s decision to expand here underscores our state’s leadership in building a modern, equitable healthcare system powered by innovation. These are the kinds of high-quality jobs that strengthen our communities and keep New York at the forefront of digital health.”

The Governor’s office noted that the expansion reflects a statewide trend toward technology-driven job growth. Between 2013 and 2023, New York City’s technology sector grew by more than 160 percent, with tech jobs now supporting more than 400,000 workers across the city. The average salary in the field exceeds $180,000, and venture capital investment in New York startups reached over $22 billion in 2023 — second only to Silicon Valley globally.

New Headquarters Signals Confidence in New York’s Tech Ecosystem

Grow Therapy’s relocation to Lower Manhattan represents more than just a new address — it’s a sign of confidence in New York City’s dynamic business environment and its pool of talented professionals. The company’s decision comes at a time when Lower Manhattan continues to attract high-growth technology and health firms, breathing new life into an area once dominated by traditional finance.

By expanding its physical footprint in the city, Grow will be able to accelerate its mission of empowering independent therapists while giving patients easier access to care. The new office will also serve as a hub for collaboration, where teams will work on building next-generation digital tools for clinicians and exploring the role of AI in mental health diagnosis, care planning, and patient engagement.

As the mental health crisis continues to affect communities nationwide, the need for accessible, high-quality therapy has never been greater. Grow’s technology addresses some of the biggest challenges in the field — from long wait times to complicated insurance barriers — by providing a platform that simplifies every step of the process.

Investing in People and Purpose

In addition to its technological innovation, Grow Therapy’s expansion will bring high-quality jobs to New York. The 186 new positions will span software engineering, data science, operations, and marketing, among other roles. These jobs not only represent economic growth but also reinforce New York’s reputation as a destination for people passionate about making a social impact through technology.

Governor Hochul emphasized that this is precisely the kind of growth her administration wants to foster — one that blends innovation with community benefit. By encouraging companies like Grow Therapy to expand locally, New York is positioning itself as a national leader in healthcare technology and mental health accessibility.
