Winter parking restrictions will take effect in the Town of Penfield starting November 15 to ensure clear roads for snowplows and emergency vehicles
Penfield, New York – The Town of Penfield is reminding residents that winter parking restrictions will officially go into effect beginning November 15, marking the start of seasonal rules designed to keep roadways clear for snowplows and emergency vehicles.
Under the town’s ordinance, no vehicles are allowed to park on public streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. during the winter months. Officials say the overnight restrictions are necessary to give Department of Public Works (DPW) crews the space they need to efficiently clear snow and ice from neighborhood roads.
“Parking restrictions during the early morning hours ensure that Department of Public Works crews have unobstructed access to all streets for efficient plowing operations,” town officials said in a statement.
Residents are urged to move their cars off the streets before the restrictions begin to avoid fines or towing. “Failure to comply with winter parking restrictions may result in a ticket and/or towing of the vehicle,” the town’s notice warns.
The winter parking ban will remain in effect through April 1, 2026. Town leaders say the restrictions are essential for both safety and efficiency, as blocked or partially obstructed streets can delay snow removal, create hazards for drivers, and prevent emergency responders from accessing certain areas quickly during winter storms.
As the region prepares for another snowy season, Penfield’s DPW crews are gearing up with salt, plows, and long hours ahead. Officials are asking for cooperation from residents to help keep roads clear, safe, and passable throughout the winter months.
For additional information or specific questions about parking enforcement or snow removal operations, residents can contact the Department of Public Works directly at (585) 340-8710.
By following the town’s parking rules, officials say residents can play a key role in keeping winter travel safer for everyone — one cleared street at a time.
