Alexandria Bay, NY – A 24-year-old man from Alexandria Bay has been arrested on multiple felony charges related to child exploitation and weapons possession, following a joint investigation by state and federal authorities.

On March 25, 2025, New York State Police took Tyler R. Slate into custody after an investigation linked him to the distribution of child exploitation material over the internet. The inquiry was initiated after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided authorities with information regarding his online activities.

Slate now faces a series of serious charges, including possessing a sexual performance by a child (class “E” felony) and promoting a sexual performance by a child (class “D” felony). In addition to these offenses, he has been charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, including third-degree possession of an ammunition feeding device (class “D” felony), possession of a ghost gun (class “A” misdemeanor), and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (class “D” felony).

Law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation include the New York State Police Troop D Computer Crime Unit, New York State Police Watertown, and Homeland Security Investigations. Their collaborative efforts led to Slate’s arrest and subsequent detainment pending his arraignment at the Jefferson County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the case, including whether additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses. The arrest underscores law enforcement’s ongoing commitment to combating child exploitation and illegal weapons possession, both of which remain significant concerns in New York and beyond.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the vigilance required to monitor online activity and hold offenders accountable. Law enforcement agencies continue to urge the public to report suspicious activity related to child exploitation to organizations such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

As Slate awaits his court appearance, legal proceedings will determine the next steps in the case. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
