Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts officially announces a community-wide Arbor Day Celebration and electric vehicle show at the Penfield Community Center on April 26

Penfield, New York – Penfield residents have an exciting opportunity to celebrate sustainability and environmental awareness on Saturday, April 26, as the town hosts an Arbor Day Celebration alongside an electric vehicle (EV) show. The event, organized by the Town of Penfield in collaboration with Color Penfield Green, will take place at the Penfield Community Center and promises a day of education, engagement, and eco-friendly initiatives.
The Arbor Day Celebration, running from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., offers a special treat for nature enthusiasts—a free native tree giveaway. Attendees will have the chance to take home Eastern Redbud, Red Maple, or White Spruce saplings on a first-come, first-served basis. No prior registration is needed, making it an easy and accessible way for community members to contribute to Penfield’s green spaces.

Alongside the Arbor Day festivities, the EV show will be in full swing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local EV owners will be on hand to showcase their vehicles and share personal experiences about driving electric. In addition, the event will feature EV dealers, an electric school bus, and representatives from organizations such as Greater Rochester Clean Cities, AMPED Go All Electric, Wise Home Energy, and GreenSpark Solar. Those who wish to display their own electric vehicles at the event can still register to participate.
As part of the day’s activities, Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts will deliver a special proclamation recognizing Penfield’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. The proclamation will highlight the town’s Tree City USA designation, its participation in the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, and the environmental benefits of electric vehicles.
“This is a great annual event that brings our community together to promote the importance of sustainability and celebrates our commitment to bettering quality of life for residents through programs such as Tree City USA. I hope you will join us for this fun and educational day,” said Supervisor Leenhouts.
The event is designed to be informative and engaging for all ages, offering an opportunity to learn more about the benefits of trees, sustainable living, and the transition to cleaner transportation options. Whether residents are looking to plant a tree in their yard, explore the world of electric vehicles, or simply enjoy a community gathering focused on sustainability, this event offers something for everyone.
For those interested in the tree giveaway, additional information can be obtained by contacting the Town of Penfield Engineering Department at (585) 340-8681. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Arbor Day, explore the latest in EV technology, and support Penfield’s green initiatives!
