Second installment of 2026 school tax bill due Thursday, October 15
Henrietta, New York – Taxpayers who have not yet paid the second installment of their 2026 School Tax bill face a Thursday, October 15, deadline. Payments for this installment must go to the Monroe County Treasurer, with options available in person, by mail and online.
The payment method matters when planning for the deadline. Office hours determine when an in-person payment can be made, while mailed payments require an accepted postmark. Online payments have a separate cutoff later Thursday night.
Residents choosing to pay in person can visit Monroe County Treasury during its regular weekday hours. The office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Anyone planning a Thursday visit should allow enough time to handle the payment before the office closes.
For taxpayers mailing their installment, Monroe County will honor U.S. postmarks dated October 15. However, postage meter marks are not accepted as a substitute for a U.S. postmark. That distinction is especially relevant for anyone sending a payment near the deadline.
Those paying by mail should therefore pay close attention to the type of mark on their envelope. The county’s stated policy recognizes the qualifying postal date, rather than a date printed by a postage meter.
An online payment option is also available through www.monroecounty.gov. Taxpayers can pay without interest if they submit their payment before midnight on Thursday, October 15.
Online payments do carry an additional convenience fee. Meeting the deadline avoids interest under the terms of the reminder, but the convenience charge still applies.
The electronic option gives taxpayers a payment window beyond the Treasury’s 5:00 p.m. closing time. Still, anyone using that option must meet the before-midnight cutoff to pay without interest.
The reminder applies specifically to the second installment of the 2026 School Tax bill. For residents with that payment outstanding, Thursday is the date to keep in mind, along with the timing and requirements of their chosen payment method.
