New York State Police charge 30-year-old Burke man following aggravated harassment investigation

New York – New York State Police arrested a 30-year-old Burke man following an investigation into a complaint involving repeated unwanted contact, alleged impersonation and requests for sexual favors.

Ryan D. Proveaux was arrested on August 21, 2026, and charged with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, Patronizing a Person for Prostitution in the Third Degree, and Stalking in the Fourth Degree.

The investigation began on August 13, when State Police members responded to Fee Road in the town of Burke at approximately 1:53 p.m. following a complaint of aggravated harassment.

According to police, investigators determined that Proveaux had been repeatedly contacting the victim by telephone. Police said the communications continued through numerous text messages that were sent from multiple phone numbers.

During those communications, Proveaux allegedly solicited the victim for sexual favors, according to the investigation.

Investigators later uncovered additional activity involving social media accounts. Police said Proveaux created multiple fraudulent social media accounts while impersonating other individuals. Those accounts were allegedly used to continue contacting the victim.

The investigation ultimately led to Proveaux’s arrest on August 21. Following his arrest, he was taken to State Police station SP Malone for processing.

Proveaux was then arraigned in Town of Malone Court. He was released on his own recognizance following the court appearance.

The charges stem from the investigation into the alleged repeated communications and online activity involving the victim. The case includes several charges covering harassment, stalking, alleged impersonation and the alleged solicitation of sexual favors.

As with any criminal case, the charges against Proveaux are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
