Smash Mouth headlines Thursday’s Volvo Cars Rochester Party in the Park with Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs

Rochester, New York – Music fans in Rochester will have another chance to enjoy live entertainment outdoors this week as the Volvo Cars Rochester Party in the Park concert series returns Thursday with a lineup featuring rock favorites Smash Mouth and New Orleans-based performers Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs.

The concert is scheduled for Aug. 6 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, located at 353 Court St. Gates will welcome attendees beginning at 5 p.m., while live performances are set to start at 6:30 p.m. The weekly summer series has drawn crowds throughout the season by bringing nationally recognized artists and regional talent to one of the city’s signature outdoor venues.

Thursday’s show places Smash Mouth in the headlining spot, with Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs opening the evening. The performance is part of the final stretch of this year’s concert schedule, which continues on Thursday evenings through Aug. 13 before wrapping up with a special encore event on Friday, Aug. 14. That additional concert was added after a previously planned July 16 performance was postponed.

Following this week’s event, the series will feature Blackberry Smoke on Aug. 13. The season will conclude the following night with performances by Almost Queen and BB Dang, giving concertgoers one final opportunity to enjoy live music before the annual series comes to an end.

Organizers have kept ticket prices affordable for families and visitors. General admission costs $7, while children 12 years old and younger can attend free of charge. Guests seeking an upgraded experience can purchase VIP Ultra Lounge tickets for $35. The premium option includes reserved seating, private restroom access, table service, a full cash bar and other exclusive amenities.

Tickets remain available online, at the Auditorium Theatre box office on East Main Street and at the entrance on the day of each concert, giving attendees multiple purchasing options.

Beyond the music, visitors can expect a variety of food, drinks and local vendors throughout the evening. The Cantina, located on the lower level of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, will offer drink specials alongside traditional Los Angeles-style street tacos served by Neno’s and El Kapitan food trucks. Local craft vendors and a DJ will also be part of the atmosphere, creating a festival-like experience before and between performances.

Accessibility continues to be a priority for organizers. Every closing act during this year’s Volvo Cars Rochester Party in the Park series will include American Sign Language interpretation, helping make the performances more inclusive for members of the community.

Guests planning to attend should also be aware of several venue policies. Each person may bring one sealed bottle of water into the concert area, but lawn chairs, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates and pets are not permitted. A strict no-smoking policy will also be enforced throughout the event.

Parking options are available at several nearby garages, including Washington Square Garage, Court Street Garage, East End Garage and The Strong Museum parking facility. Those choosing street parking can take advantage of free metered parking after 6 p.m. on concert nights.

The Volvo Cars Rochester Party in the Park series is presented as a City of Rochester event and is produced by Rochester Events and Springut Group Inc. The annual concert series is supported by sponsors including Genesee Brewing, Labatt Blue Light, Tiny Fish Printing, Native Eatery and Bar, and GO MINI’S.

With only a handful of concerts remaining this summer, this week’s performance offers another opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy live music, local food and a lively downtown gathering before the 2026 season comes to a close.
