Pittsford residents invited to help shape the town’s Community Climate Action Plan

Pittsford, New York – Pittsford residents, business owners, and community members are being invited to help shape the town’s future environmental goals through a new Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) survey designed to gather public ideas on sustainability, climate resilience, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Town of Pittsford is encouraging people throughout the community to participate in the short survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Officials say the feedback will play an important role in identifying local priorities and creating a plan that reflects the values, needs, and goals of the community.

For years, Pittsford has been recognized as a leader in environmental protection and sustainability efforts. Town officials say the new climate action plan will build on that history while creating a roadmap for future projects aimed at protecting natural resources and preparing the community for environmental challenges.

The survey comes after a recent Community Climate Action Plan workshop held earlier this month. The event brought together residents, members of the Town’s Environmental Board, town staff, community stakeholders, and representatives from the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (GFLRPC).

During the workshop, participants reviewed Pittsford’s greenhouse gas inventory, discussed possible climate strategies, and shared suggestions for how the town can continue improving its environmental efforts. The Community Climate Action Plan is being developed in partnership with the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council. Pittsford has already established a strong record of environmental leadership through several programs and initiatives. The town’s efforts include the Greenprint, Climate Smart Communities certification, Clean Energy Community designation, the Climate Action Plan for Municipal Operations, the Pollinator Pathway program, and decades of open space preservation.

Through these programs, Pittsford has received recognition for its commitment to protecting the environment while maintaining the quality of life that residents value. Officials say the town’s approach demonstrates that careful planning, environmental responsibility, and community investment can work together to create a stronger and more sustainable future.
