Town of Penfield to celebrate completion of historic Alpheus Clark House restoration with June 10 ribbon-cutting ceremony
Penfield, New York – A significant chapter in Penfield’s ongoing efforts to preserve local history while expanding community amenities will be celebrated next week as town officials prepare to officially unveil the completed Alpheus Clark House project at Shadow Pines.
The Town of Penfield has announced that a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on June 10 at 3:30 p.m. at the historic property located at 675 Whalen Road. Residents are encouraged to attend the event and join local leaders, municipal staff, and project contractors in recognizing the completion of a project that blends historic preservation with modern community use.
The celebration will mark the conclusion of an ambitious undertaking that transformed one of the town’s historic landmarks into a renewed community asset. Following the ceremony, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the facility during a public open house that will remain available until 5 p.m.
At the heart of the project is the restoration of the Alpheus Clark House, a structure that dates back to 1832. The rehabilitation effort was paired with the construction of a new event venue designed to serve residents and organizations for years to come. The addition includes a kitchen, outdoor patio, and gathering space that is expected to become available for rentals in the near future.

The project reached completion several months earlier than originally anticipated, allowing town officials to move forward with plans to introduce the facility to the public ahead of schedule. The early completion is being viewed as a noteworthy achievement, particularly for a project involving the careful restoration of a nearly two-century-old building.
Town leaders say the completed development reflects a commitment to both honoring Penfield’s past and meeting the needs of a growing community. By preserving the historic character of the original home while adding new amenities, the town hopes to create a destination that can host community events, celebrations, and gatherings of various sizes.
“I look forward to gathering with our community to celebrate the completion of this project,” said Town Supervisor Kevin Berry. “We are not only adding a beautiful new event space for our community to enjoy, but, most importantly, we have preserved a piece of our community’s history through the rehabilitation of the Alpheus Clark House.”
The restored property represents more than a construction project. For many residents, it serves as a tangible connection to Penfield’s early history and a reminder of the importance of protecting historic landmarks for future generations.

Community members interested in attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony are welcome to participate in the celebration and tour the newly completed facility. Town officials have also encouraged residents with questions about the event to contact the Supervisor’s Office for additional information.
With the project now complete, the Alpheus Clark House is poised to begin a new chapter—one that honors its nearly 200-year legacy while serving as a vibrant gathering place for the Penfield community.
