Rochester, New York – A late-night house party in Rochester’s Swillburg neighborhood drew a large police response after officers encountered a crowd of more than 100 people gathered outside a home early Sunday morning.

According to the Rochester Police Department, officers were called to Field Street near Henrietta Street around midnight after reports of a disruptive gathering in the area. When police arrived, they found a massive crowd of young men and women outside the residence, with authorities describing the scene as disorderly.

The gathering quickly became a concern for officers as the number of people in the area continued to create congestion and noise in the neighborhood. Police said the crowd was acting in a disruptive manner, prompting officers to step in and restore order before the situation escalated further.

Authorities worked to safely disperse the crowd, eventually clearing the area without reports of major injuries or significant damage. Residents in the Swillburg neighborhood, an area known for its mix of homes and local activity, saw police vehicles line the street as officers managed the scene in the early morning hours.

During the response, police arrested a 19-year-old Rochester man. Officials said he was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident. His identity was not immediately released publicly.

The response highlights the growing challenge law enforcement agencies often face with large overnight gatherings, particularly when crowds spill into residential neighborhoods. Events that begin as private parties can quickly become difficult to manage once attendance grows beyond expectations.

While police did not specify what led to the gathering becoming disorderly, officers remained at the location long enough to ensure the area was cleared safely and residents could return to normal conditions.

No additional arrests were announced, and authorities have not said whether further charges could follow as the investigation continues. Officials also did not confirm whether the homeowner or party organizers could face any penalties related to the gathering.

By sunrise, the streets around Field Street had largely quieted down again, though the overnight scene left neighbors with an unusual end to the weekend. For many residents nearby, the flashing lights and large police presence interrupted what had otherwise been a calm night in the community.

Police continue to remind the public to report large disruptive gatherings when safety or neighborhood concerns arise.
