Food Truck Rodeo returns to Rochester Public Market on May 27 with live music local vendors and a wide variety of popular food trucks
Rochester, New York – The smell of grilled food, the sound of live music, and the steady movement of crowds will once again take over the Rochester Public Market later this month as the city’s popular Food Truck Rodeo series returns on May 27.
Set at the Rochester Public Market on North Union Street, the event continues a seasonal tradition that has become one of Rochester’s most anticipated warm-weather gatherings. The May edition will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and feature live entertainment from local band A Girl Named Genny.
The Food Truck Rodeo series combines two things that consistently draw large crowds in Rochester — creative local food and live local music. Dozens of food trucks are expected to line the market grounds, serving a broad mix of dishes ranging from street food favorites to specialty desserts and regional creations.
For many visitors, the event has become more than a place to grab dinner. Families, groups of friends, and downtown workers often gather throughout the evening, turning the market into a lively social space filled with music, conversation, and long lines at some of the city’s most recognizable food trucks.
Organizers say the rodeo’s success comes from its relaxed atmosphere and rotating lineup. Different vendors and performers help keep each monthly event feeling fresh, while still maintaining the familiar community energy that regular attendees expect.
The May 27 gathering is only one stop in a full summer schedule that stretches through September. Additional Food Truck Rodeo nights are already planned for the last Wednesday of each month. Upcoming performances include Junk Yard Field Trip on June 24, Miller & the Other Sinners on July 29, Earthtones on August 26, and Mr. Heartache closing out the season on September 30.
As attendance continues to grow each year, organizers are also reminding visitors to prepare for limited parking around the market area. Guests are encouraged to carpool, use public transportation, bike, or walk when possible to reduce congestion during the evening rush.
Because seating space on market grounds is limited, attendees are also advised to bring folding chairs or even small folding tables to make the experience more comfortable. Many regular visitors already treat the event like an outdoor picnic, arriving early to claim spots and settle in for the evening performances.
Beyond entertainment, the Food Truck Rodeo has also become an important showcase for Rochester’s local food businesses and musicians. The recurring series gives vendors exposure to large crowds while helping strengthen the city’s growing outdoor event culture during the summer months.
Additional information about vendor participation and future rodeo dates is available through the city’s official Food Truck Rodeo page at City of Rochester Food Truck Rodeo Information.
