Town of Penfield announces Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance scheduled for May 25 at Veterans Memorial Park amphitheater with community gathering at 10:30 a.m.
Penfield, New York – The Town of Penfield is preparing to gather residents for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance, scheduled for Monday, May 25. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Penfield Amphitheater located within Veterans Memorial Park, where the community will come together in honor of those who gave their lives in military service.
The ceremony is held each year as a moment of reflection and gratitude, focusing on fallen veterans and service members. It serves as a local tradition that brings together families, veterans, students, and residents who wish to pay respect in a shared public space dedicated to remembrance.
This year’s program will include remarks from local veterans, offering personal reflections on service and sacrifice. Their words are expected to add a deeply personal tone to the ceremony, connecting lived experiences with the broader meaning of Memorial Day.
A key part of the event will be the reading of essays written by middle school students. These readings highlight how younger members of the community understand and reflect on the meaning of remembrance and service. Their participation has become a meaningful part of the annual observance.
The ceremony will also feature Penfield’s traditional Presentation of Roses. During this moment, community members honor fallen military personnel by placing a rose on the Veterans’ Memorial monument stone. The gesture is simple but powerful, symbolizing remembrance and respect for those who are no longer alive. Anyone interested in taking part in this presentation is asked to call (585) 340-8651.
Organizers encourage residents to attend and take part in the ceremony as a way to reflect on the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces. The event continues to serve as an important community gathering that blends remembrance, education, and participation across generations.
For additional details about the ceremony or related activities, the public may contact Penfield Recreation at (585) 340-8655.
