Community members to gather for annual Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony on May 25, 2026
Pittsford, New York – Residents across the community will once again gather this spring to honor military service members who lost their lives in defense of the country during the annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026.
The long-standing tradition, which brings together veterans, local organizations, families, and community leaders each year, is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. Organizers say the event will follow its familiar route through the heart of the community, continuing a ceremony that has become one of the area’s most meaningful public observances.
The parade will start at Sutherland High School before proceeding down Jefferson Road and continuing onto Main Street. Participants and attendees will then make their way toward Pittsford Cemetery, where the remembrance ceremony will take place. A formal procession is expected to enter the cemetery from Washington Road.
Community officials say the event is intended to serve as both a tribute and a moment of reflection — a chance for residents of all ages to pause and recognize the sacrifices made by fallen service members throughout the nation’s history.
The Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will feature patriotic music and commemorative elements designed to honor those who died during wartime service. Organizers confirmed that the Pittsford Fire Department Band will provide musical performances during the ceremony, continuing a role the band has traditionally held during the annual observance.
Additional details about the full program are expected to be released closer to the event date, with organizers encouraging residents to check the community’s Memorial Day webpage for updates and scheduling information.
Beyond the formal ceremony itself, Memorial Day in the community has also become a gathering point for veterans and residents who wish to express appreciation for military service and sacrifice.
Following the conclusion of the remembrance ceremony, the Rayson-Miller American Legion Post 899 will host a public reception at its headquarters located inside Village Hall at 21 North Main Street. The reception area is located on the lower level of the building and is expected to welcome parade participants, veterans, families, and community members.
Local leaders say the post-ceremony gathering provides an opportunity for residents not only to remember the fallen, but also to personally thank veterans who continue to live and serve within the community.
For many families, the annual parade has become more than a civic event. Generations often line the streets together, waving flags and listening to patriotic music while veterans march past in remembrance of friends and fellow service members who never returned home.
As Memorial Day approaches, organizers are once again encouraging strong community participation, emphasizing the importance of preserving the meaning behind the national holiday.
While ceremonies and parades remain rooted in tradition, officials say the central message remains unchanged year after year — honoring sacrifice, remembering the fallen, and ensuring their service is never forgotten.
