Monroe County, New York -As winter slowly loosens its grip and the first signs of spring begin to appear, visitors to Seneca Park Zoo will soon have more time to explore the popular destination. Officials have announced that the zoo will begin its extended spring and summer schedule at the end of March, giving guests an additional hour each day to enjoy the exhibits and activities.

Adam Bello shared the news this week, confirming that the new hours will take effect on March 28 and continue through October 31. Under the updated schedule, the zoo will be open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with the final admission allowed at 4 p.m.

“As the snow thaws and days are growing longer, we’re excited to welcome visitors to Seneca Park Zoo for an extra hour,” said County Executive Bello. “By beginning spring and summer zoo hours in time for the start of spring break, we’re making it easier for families to spend time together and make new memories at the Zoo.”

The arrival of spring tends to bring renewed life to the zoo’s grounds. Warmer temperatures encourage many animals to become more active, offering visitors a chance to observe behaviors that are less common during the colder months. For many families, this seasonal shift turns a routine outing into something a bit more memorable, especially as the zoo’s landscape becomes greener and more vibrant.

The layout of Seneca Park Zoo also makes it an appealing destination for visitors eager to spend time outdoors after a long winter. Its network of walkable paths guides guests through a mix of indoor and open-air exhibits, allowing people to comfortably explore regardless of the weather. Whether visitors are meeting friends for a casual afternoon or planning a family outing, the space offers a relaxed environment to reconnect with nature and wildlife.

The zoo is also planning a series of activities during the upcoming spring break period. From March 28 through April 5, guests will find a lineup of special programming designed to keep visitors engaged throughout the day. The schedule will include animal encounters, discussions with veterinary staff, keeper talks, and other educational experiences that highlight the daily care of the zoo’s residents.

One of the week’s biggest highlights will arrive on Saturday, April 4, when the zoo hosts its annual spring celebration. The event, known as the Spring Eggstravaganza, will feature egg hunts and scavenger hunts aimed at children of various ages, creating a festive atmosphere across the zoo grounds.

Visitors planning a trip can also save money by purchasing tickets online in advance. Online purchases provide a small discount compared with buying tickets at the gate, making it an easy option for families planning their day ahead of time.

With longer daylight hours and a full schedule of seasonal programming, the coming months promise to bring fresh energy to Seneca Park Zoo as the community steps into spring.
