Public workshop in Penfield will invite residents to share ideas about the future of Town facilities and community spaces
Penfield, New York – Residents of Penfield will soon have a chance to help shape the future of some of the town’s most important public spaces. Local officials are inviting community members to take part in an upcoming public workshop focused on long-term planning for key town facilities, including the library, recreation spaces, Town Hall, and the Town Court.
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, March 2, and will take place at the Penfield Community Center in the Community Room. The event is designed to give residents an opportunity to learn about ongoing planning efforts while also sharing their thoughts about what the town may need in the years ahead. Organizers say the session is meant to be open, informal, and welcoming to anyone interested in the future of Penfield’s public spaces.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a short presentation outlining the goals of the project and the types of improvements that may be considered. After that, attendees will be able to walk through a poster gallery that will remain available until 7 p.m. The display will present information about different facilities and potential ideas, giving residents the chance to review materials at their own pace.
Officials emphasize that feedback will play a central role throughout the event. Visitors can share opinions, ask questions, and provide input directly during the workshop. Even those unable to stay for the entire session will still have the opportunity to participate, as residents may drop in at any point during the scheduled time window.
In an effort to reach as many people as possible, the town will also keep the informational posters on display at both the Community Center and Town Hall for several days after the workshop ends. This extended display period is intended to ensure that community members who cannot attend in person on March 2 will still have a chance to review the information and offer their feedback.
The workshop is part of a broader planning effort that aims to identify both current and future needs across town facilities. Officials are exploring a wide range of possibilities, from maintaining existing buildings to making renovations or even constructing new spaces. The goal is to create a clear understanding of what improvements might be necessary and whether there is public support for those changes.
Several key topics will guide the discussion, including how much space is needed in different facilities, how to improve accessibility for all residents, and how to design buildings that are easy to use and welcoming. Other areas of focus include updating building systems, enhancing safety and security features, and ensuring that facilities can support future programs and services.
Town leaders say the overall purpose of the initiative is to create a thoughtful long-term plan that reflects the needs and priorities of the community. By gathering public input early in the process, they hope to build a strong foundation for decisions that may affect residents for decades to come.
The March workshop will not be the only opportunity for public involvement. Additional engagement efforts, such as focus groups, pop-up events, and public information meetings, are expected to continue throughout the winter and spring months. Officials anticipate that findings and recommendations from the planning process will be ready by late summer 2026.
Residents interested in learning more about the project can visit the town’s dedicated project website, where updates and notifications will be posted. Those with questions or comments may also contact the Penfield Planning Department directly. Town officials encourage anyone with accessibility needs to reach out in advance so appropriate accommodations can be arranged.
As Penfield looks toward the future, the upcoming workshop represents an important step in ensuring that public facilities continue to meet the evolving needs of the community while reflecting the voices of the people who use them every day.
