New York – A domestic dispute in the town of Beekmantown led to the arrest of a 65-year-old Plattsburgh woman after an argument reportedly escalated into violence and property damage, according to New York State Police.

State police said Beverly F. Wood of Plattsburgh, Clinton County, was charged on December 29, 2025, with three counts of Criminal Mischief, Menacing in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. The charges stem from an incident that unfolded earlier that afternoon on Jersey Swamp Road.

Troopers were dispatched to the area at approximately 1:27 p.m. after receiving a report of a physical domestic incident. When officers arrived and began their investigation, they determined that Wood and the victim had been involved in a verbal argument that intensified. Police said the dispute eventually turned physical, and Wood allegedly struck the victim in the head during the altercation.

After the confrontation, Wood reportedly left the scene. Fearing for their safety, the victim locked themselves inside a nearby shed. According to investigators, the situation did not end there. Police said Wood later returned to the property and discovered the shed was locked. She then allegedly smashed a window in order to gain access to the structure.

Troopers said Wood continued to act in an irate and aggressive manner after entering the shed area. She then reportedly went to the victim’s vehicle, a truck parked on the property. Police allege that Wood removed a water tank from the bed of the truck, causing it to fall to the ground. The fall reportedly damaged piping connected to the tank.

Investigators said Wood then picked up a piece of the broken pipe and used it to damage a door on the vehicle. During this time, she allegedly threatened the victim, escalating concerns about safety and prompting additional charges.

Following the incident, Wood was taken into custody by state police. She was transported to State Police Plattsburgh for processing, where formal charges were filed. Authorities said no serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Wood was later arraigned in the Town of Beekmantown Court. After appearing before a judge, she was released on her own recognizance, meaning she was not required to post bail but must comply with court conditions and return for future proceedings.

New York State Police did not release further details about the relationship between Wood and the victim or whether any orders of protection were issued. The case remains pending in local court.

Law enforcement officials continue to remind the public that domestic disputes can escalate quickly and encourage anyone experiencing or witnessing domestic violence to seek help and contact authorities.
