Henrietta, New York – Residents and property owners in the Town of Henrietta are being advised to prepare for the 2026 Town and County Tax Collection period, which officially begins at the very end of 2025. Local officials have outlined the timeline, payment options, and rules that will govern how taxes are billed, paid, and, if necessary, transferred to county control.

According to the tax warrant issued for the Town of Henrietta portion of the Town and County collection, tax collection will begin on December 31, 2025, and will continue through May 31, 2026. This window gives property owners several months to review their bills and choose the payment option that works best for them, whether that means paying everything at once or spreading payments out over time.

Tax bills for the upcoming collection cycle are being mailed directly to real property owners, as required under Real Property Tax Law Section 922. Town officials note that mailing delays can sometimes occur. Anyone responsible for paying the Town and County tax who has not received a bill by January 9, 2026, is encouraged to take action quickly. Property owners may call (585) 359-7035 or email [email protected] to request a duplicate tax bill, which will be provided at no charge.

For those who prefer to settle their obligation in one transaction, full payment is an option. In this case, the entire tax amount must be paid on or before February 10, 2026, to avoid any interest charges. Payments made after that date will begin to accrue interest at a rate of 1-½% per month, increasing the overall cost for those who delay.

The town is also offering an installment payment plan for taxpayers who wish to spread the cost over several months. The first installment is due by February 10, 2026, with no interest applied. The second installment may be paid between February 11 and February 28, but will include 1-½% interest. A third installment is available from March 1 through March 31 with 3% interest, while the fourth and final installment can be paid between April 1 and April 30, carrying 4-½% interest.

Partial payments are another option during the tax collection period. Taxpayers may make an initial payment of at least 25% of the total taxes due, along with any interest that has accrued. Any payment made on or before February 10 remains interest-free. After that date, interest accrues at the same monthly rate of 1-1/2%.

Several payment methods are available for convenience. Checks should be made payable to “Henrietta Receiver of Taxes.” Payments can be mailed to P.O. Box 579, Henrietta, NY 14467, placed in the secure drop box at Henrietta Town Hall at any time, or made in person Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Town Hall, located at 475 Calkins Road, Rochester, NY 14623. Online payments are also accepted through www.monroecounty.gov.

Officials emphasize that May 31, 2026, is a firm deadline. Any taxes not paid by that date, along with accumulated interest, will no longer be handled by the town and must instead be paid directly to the Monroe County Treasury. Staying informed and paying on time can help residents avoid additional costs and administrative complications.
