New York – State Police are investigating a serious vehicle collision that brought traffic disruptions to a busy stretch of the New York State Thruway late Sunday night.

The crash occurred on December 15, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 87 near Exit 7A, within the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County. The incident prompted an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency crews, who arrived to secure the scene and begin a preliminary investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the Exit 7A deceleration ramp has been closed as a result of the collision. In addition, the right lane of northbound traffic remains shut down while investigators work. Drivers traveling through the area are being directed to use the center and left lanes, where traffic continues to move but at reduced speeds.

The crash happened during evening hours when visibility can be limited and traffic volumes remain steady, particularly along this heavily traveled corridor. Officials have not yet released information about how many vehicles were involved or whether there were any injuries, emphasizing that the investigation is still in its early stages.

State Police are carefully examining the scene, including roadway conditions and vehicle damage, to determine the circumstances that led to the collision. As part of the process, investigators may also review traffic patterns and other contributing factors before drawing conclusions.

Motorists were urged to use caution when approaching the area and to expect delays as crews continue their work. The partial lane closures have already caused backups, and drivers unfamiliar with the area may experience longer travel times than usual.

Officials stressed that the situation remains active and that further updates will be provided once more information becomes available. Until then, travelers are encouraged to plan alternate routes if possible and remain patient while authorities complete their investigation.

The New York State Police noted that ensuring the safety of those involved and restoring normal traffic flow are top priorities. Additional details about the collision are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
