Monroe County Executive Adam Bello appoints longtime advisor Amy Grower as the next deputy county executive beginning in 2026
Monroe County, New York – Monroe County government will begin 2026 with a leadership transition at the top levels of its administration, as County Executive Adam Bello announced the appointment of Amy Grower as the next Deputy County Executive. Grower will officially step into the role on January 1, 2026, succeeding Jeff McCann, who recently won election as Greece Town Supervisor.
The appointment marks a continuation of leadership from within the Bello administration. Grower has worked closely with the County Executive for several years and is widely viewed as a steady presence in county government operations. Her promotion reflects both experience and continuity at a time when the county is advancing several long-term priorities.
“Amy is one of the finest public servants I’ve worked with and has been an integral part of my leadership team and administration since day one. She has proven that she has the knowledge, skills, and dedication to serve as Deputy County Executive. Amy’s incredible experience, deep commitment to public service, and proven track record of thoughtful leadership make her the perfect fit for this role. Her insight and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to work to improve the quality of life for families in Monroe County, invest in our local workforce, and build a stronger and safer community,” said County Executive Bello.
As Deputy County Executive, Grower will take on a broad portfolio of responsibilities. She will work side by side with Bello to oversee the day-to-day operations of county government, support the development of policy, and lead major initiatives tied to the administration’s core goals. These priorities include public safety, public health, economic and workforce development, and infrastructure investment across Monroe County.
Grower brings a deep understanding of county operations to the role. She currently serves as Chief of Staff to the County Executive, a position she has held throughout much of the Bello administration. In that capacity, she manages daily operations within the County Executive’s Office, advises on strategic decisions, and coordinates efforts across departments to ensure policies move from planning to implementation.
“Working with County Executive Bello since 2020 has been deeply rewarding and a true privilege. His collaborative leadership and unwavering commitment to putting residents first have helped instill a strong culture of service throughout county government,” said Grower. “Public service has always been central to me and my family, and I am honored to be appointed Deputy County Executive. I am grateful to County Executive Bello for the confidence he has placed in me and for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Monroe County in this role.”
One of Grower’s most notable contributions as Chief of Staff has been her involvement in special projects designed to improve coordination and outcomes across county services. Among these efforts is the Transformational Community Care Coordination Program, known as TC3, which aims to better connect residents with services while reducing strain on emergency systems. Her work on initiatives like TC3 has helped shape the administration’s approach to public health and community support.

The transition also follows a change driven by local elections. Jeff McCann’s move to the role of Greece Town Supervisor created the opening for Deputy County Executive, prompting Bello to elevate someone already deeply familiar with the administration’s goals and challenges. By selecting Grower, the County Executive signaled an emphasis on stability and institutional knowledge.
Grower’s appointment is expected to ensure a smooth continuation of ongoing projects while allowing room for new ideas and leadership. With years of experience inside the County Executive’s Office, she is positioned to step into the role with minimal disruption and immediate effectiveness.
As Monroe County looks ahead to 2026, the leadership team under Bello remains focused on strengthening services, supporting economic growth, and improving quality of life for residents. Grower’s new role places her at the center of those efforts, helping guide county government through its next phase with a focus on service, collaboration, and long-term impact.
