State police arrest a man from Virgil after responding to a domestic dispute at a local residence
New York – State Police arrested a local man on November 22, 2025, after responding to a domestic dispute at a residence on Route 11 in the town of Virgil. Mark E. Young, 34, was charged with multiple offenses, including Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree, Criminal Contempt in the first and second degrees, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m., when authorities were called to the home after a report of a domestic disturbance. According to the State Police investigation, Young and the victim became involved in a verbal argument. During the confrontation, Young allegedly attempted to seize the victim’s phone to prevent them from calling for help.
Further investigation revealed that the argument escalated physically. Young reportedly made contact with the victim during the dispute, prompting law enforcement to take immediate action.
Young was taken into custody at SP Homer, where he underwent processing. Following standard procedures, he was subsequently transported to the Cortland County Jail and is awaiting CAP court.
