Rochester, New York – RIT’s student-run radio station is preparing for a moment that blends campus curiosity with long-standing tradition. WITR-FM (89.7) will host President Bill Sanders this Tuesday, giving students their first chance to hear his early impressions of the university in a live, conversational setting.

The broadcast is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 18, unfolding inside the WITR studio tucked within the Student Alumni Union. Though Sanders began his tenure on July 1, he has spent the past several months on the move—meeting students, alumni, and community partners across the globe. Those encounters have shaped the observations and ideas he is expected to share during the appearance.

Students have been invited to submit questions ahead of time, a process that has already produced a steady stream of thoughts ranging from campus culture to academic growth to the student experience. That collection of questions will guide the conversation during the show, giving listeners a window into what is on the minds of the RIT community as a new presidency takes root.

The live broadcast, titled “Ask President Sanders,” continues a tradition that stretches back more than twenty years. Over that time, the series has become a reliable place for presidents to speak directly with students—unfiltered, unscripted, and shaped by the voices of those who tune in. Each edition brings its own energy, but this week’s installment carries a special sense of anticipation, as many are eager to learn how Sanders views the campus he has been steadily exploring.

While his administration remains in its early chapters, Sanders has emphasized the importance of building relationships across the university. His willingness to step into a student-run radio booth reflects that approach, offering a gesture of openness that aligns with the community-driven spirit RIT students often celebrate.

The show is expected to draw listeners from across campus, from curious first-years to seniors who have followed presidential broadcasts for years. With questions already submitted and the microphones ready, WITR is preparing for an exchange that may offer the clearest picture yet of how President Sanders sees the university he now leads.
