The Downtown Men will bring Billy Joel classics to the Port of Pittsford canalside concert this Friday August 22

Pittsford, New York – Music lovers along the Erie Canal have one more reason to gather outdoors this week. The summer concert series at the Port of Pittsford is drawing to a close, and it will end on a high note. On Friday evening, August 22, The Downtown Men will bring the music of Billy Joel to Carpenter Park, offering fans a chance to sing along to some of the most recognizable songs in pop history.
“Sing us a song, you’re the piano man!” has never sounded more fitting. With a setlist that celebrates Joel’s wide-ranging catalog, The Downtown Men promise an evening filled with melodies that have stood the test of time. The band takes the stage at 6:30 p.m., and the canal-side setting provides a backdrop that makes the show as much about the atmosphere as it is about the music.
Local flavor will be on hand too. Harladay Hots, a longtime favorite, will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, and snacks. Concertgoers can either grab dinner right at the park or stop by one of Pittsford’s many restaurants before heading down to the water. Organizers encourage guests to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and friends for a relaxed and festive evening.
The Port of Pittsford is more than just a concert spot. The location offers a band pavilion, dock space, electrical hookups, and potable water for boaters. Restrooms are also available nearby at the Pittsford Community Library, ensuring the event is comfortable for all who attend.
For many in the community, this night marks both a celebration and a farewell. Summer along the canal has been filled with music, and Friday night is the final performance of the season. The Downtown Men’s tribute to Billy Joel is expected to be a memorable sendoff, giving residents and visitors alike one last chance to gather by the water before the calendar turns toward fall.
“Come cap off an incredible season of summer concerts with timeless music you know and love,” organizers said. “We hope to see you there!”
