RIT named among the best universities in the nation for career outcomes by The Princeton Review in its 2026 guide

Rochester, New York – Rochester Institute of Technology has once again earned national recognition for preparing students to succeed in their careers, securing a place on The Princeton Review’s Best Colleges list for 2026. The university was singled out for its strong career outcomes, innovative academic programs, and exceptional game design offerings.
While The Princeton Review does not assign a numerical ranking in most categories, RIT’s undergraduate game design and development programs earned a specific national placement, coming in at No. 6. The guide also placed RIT in several other notable categories, including Best Northeast—reserved for academically outstanding schools in the region—Colleges that Create Futures, and Green Colleges, a recognition for institutions that emphasize sustainability in operations and academics.
“This is where students are able to create what their minds generate. It’s like a teenager’s dream,” one student commented in the review, reflecting on RIT’s culture of innovation and creativity. Another added, “RIT has a culture for everybody,” underscoring the campus’s inclusivity and broad appeal.
A major highlight in this year’s profile is RIT’s cooperative education program, one of the largest and oldest in the country. The program provides students with hands-on, paid work experience directly related to their fields of study, often leading to job offers before graduation. The Princeton Review praised this approach as a key factor in producing graduates who are ready to step into professional roles immediately after earning their degrees.
The Best Colleges guide has been published annually since 1992, featuring only about 15 percent of the nation’s four-year institutions. Selection is based on surveys from students, covering topics such as campus life, academic offerings, admissions, and financial aid. The feedback for RIT highlighted the university’s vibrant community, diverse opportunities for experiential learning, and commitment to preparing students for the demands of the workforce.
RIT’s recognition by The Princeton Review adds to a growing list of national and international honors for the university. These accolades reflect its continued investment in academic excellence, sustainability initiatives, and programs that bridge classroom learning with real-world experience.
By combining rigorous academics, forward-thinking programs, and a supportive campus culture, RIT continues to position itself as a top destination for students who want to transform their passions into thriving careers. As The Princeton Review’s latest rankings suggest, the university’s approach is paying off—not just in national recognition, but in the success of its graduates.
