Penfield, New York – Penfield families have something special to look forward to this summer: a brand-new event that’s all about community, celebration, and enjoying the outdoors. Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts has announced that the Town of Penfield will be hosting its first-ever Family Fun Night on Friday, August 22, at the Shadow Pines Recreation Area, with festivities running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This inaugural celebration is being held to mark the first full summer season of the newly constructed playgrounds at Shadow Pines—a space that has quickly become a beloved destination for kids and parents alike.

“We’ve had a fantastic first summer at the new Shadow Pines recreation area,” said Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts. “Every time we’ve had nice weather, the playgrounds are packed with families. It’s quickly become one of Penfield’s favorite gathering spots, and this event is a great way to celebrate that success.”

The three-hour event promises an easygoing and fun-filled atmosphere designed for all ages. Local food trucks will be rolling in to serve up tasty treats, while face painting and other kid-friendly activities are expected to keep younger attendees entertained. No tickets or fees are required—just show up ready to play, eat, and enjoy.

In addition to the entertainment, the town’s popular playgrounds and pickleball courts will be open for free play throughout the evening. For those who haven’t yet experienced the upgrades at Shadow Pines, this will be the perfect opportunity to see what all the buzz is about.

Located at the northeast corner of the Shadow Pines property, at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Whalen Road, the recreation area is easily accessible. Parking will be available in the north lot, and additional parking will be provided in the southern lot near the Alpheus Clark House, ensuring there’s plenty of space for everyone attending.
