Henrietta Town Board schedules August 13 public hearing to review special permit request for keeping more than three dogs at a residential property

Henrietta, New York – Henrietta residents will have a chance to voice their opinions on a special use permit request during a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The hearing will be part of the Town Board’s regular meeting, beginning at 6:00 p.m., and will be held both in person and online.
The focus of the hearing is Application No. 2025-023, submitted by Alicia Phillips, who resides at 20 Academy Drive. Phillips is seeking permission to keep more than three dogs on her property, which is located within a Residential R-1-15 Zoned District. Her parcel is identified as Tax Account No. 161.18-3-27.
The Town of Henrietta normally restricts the number of dogs allowed on residential lots under existing zoning rules. However, residents can apply for a special use permit when seeking to exceed those limits. The Board will use the hearing to gather feedback from the public before making a decision on the application.
Details of the proposal are available for review in the Town Clerk’s Office and can also be accessed online at www.henrietta.org/projects.
The Town is encouraging participation from all community members. Those who cannot attend in person may join virtually. Instructions for attending the meeting remotely are posted at www.henrietta.org/wishyouwerehere. Questions and accessibility requests can be directed to the Town Clerk’s Office via email at [email protected] or by phone at (585) 359-7035.
“If an ASL interpreter is needed for this meeting, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office by the above means – requests made less than two business days prior to the meeting may result in us being unable to schedule an interpreter.”
This public hearing offers an opportunity for neighbors and interested parties to weigh in on a local matter that could set a precedent for similar cases in the future. The Town Board will consider all public input before voting on the special permit.
As Henrietta continues to balance suburban zoning rules with the individual needs of residents, such hearings remain an important part of the decision-making process.
