Flea Market Mashups bring fun and community spirit back to the Rochester Public Market this weekend

Rochester, New York – Rochester’s favorite weekend tradition is gearing up for another lively return this Sunday as the Rochester Public Market teams up once again with the Great New York State Flea for their popular Flea Market Mashups. The season’s latest installment promises a full day of festive fun, vibrant energy, and the kind of unique shopping experience that keeps locals and visitors coming back weekend after weekend.
This Sunday’s event, taking place on July 20, isn’t just any flea market gathering — it’s Circus and Fair Day, adding a playful twist to the usual treasure hunting. Alongside the usual mix of antiques, vintage finds, collectibles, crafts, and quirky oddities, attendees can look forward to an atmosphere buzzing with carnival vibes. Organizers promise entertainment for all ages, mixing classic fairground fun with the unbeatable energy of a Rochester summer Sunday.
“Sunday Funday is calling – and the Rochester Public Market is answering in a big way.” That’s the spirit fueling these events, which continue to draw huge crowds from across the region looking for bargains, rare finds, and a good time spent among friends and neighbors.
The Flea Market Mashups and Community Garage Sales are a well-loved tradition at the Public Market, transforming the sprawling site into a lively patchwork of stalls, food vendors, and live entertainment. These aren’t just shopping events — they’ve become community gatherings where connections are made over shared stories of flea market triumphs and culinary delights from local food trucks.
For those planning ahead, the city has laid out the rest of the season’s schedule for both the Community Garage Sales and the Flea Market Mashups. Here’s what’s on tap:
• Sunday, Aug. 3 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. will host a classic Community Garage Sale.
• Sunday, Aug. 17 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. brings another Flea Market Mashup with the Great New York State Flea, featuring a “Field Day Fun” theme.
• Sunday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 14 will offer more chances to hunt for bargains at Community Garage Sales from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 28 features a longer event from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., promising the popular Roc Renaissance Day alongside another Great New York State Flea partnership.
• Sunday, Oct. 12 will close out the season with one more Community Garage Sale.
All events are held rain or shine with free admission, making them accessible to everyone looking to spend a few hours browsing through a variety of secondhand treasures. Most of the items for sale are kept under cover in the market’s outdoor sheds, so even less-than-perfect weather won’t dampen the experience.

For vendors eager to take part, spots remain highly affordable. A 10’ x 30’ stall, which includes parking, costs just $35 per day. For those looking to commit to the season, a package deal offers six Sundays for just $160. Applications and full details can be found by visiting www.cityofrochester.gov/garagesales or stopping by the Market Office at 280 N. Union St. during the week or on sale Sundays.
The Rochester Public Market’s events continue to highlight the city’s commitment to supporting small businesses, artisans, and everyday people hoping to turn their attic cleanout into extra cash. It’s not just about shopping — it’s about community, discovery, and spending quality time outdoors.
