Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Youth Board welcome the public to enjoy food and music at the Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Rodeo with Zac Brown Tribute Band

Greece, New York – Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, the Greece Town Councilmembers, and the Greece Youth Board are inviting the entire community to come together on Wednesday, June 4 for a special evening that promises great food, live music, and a meaningful cause. The Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Greece Town Hall Campus and will be held in conjunction with the town’s popular Summer Concert Series, which this year features a Zac Brown Tribute Band.

The evening will begin with a lineup of local food trucks opening their windows at 5:30 p.m., offering a wide variety of crowd-pleasing options. From savory meals to sweet treats, attendees will be able to enjoy food from fan favorites like Kona Ice, Tom’s Travelin’ Coffee, Melt Truck, Sammies n’ Sweets, Chef’s Catering, Agatina’s Italian Eats, Mary’s Food, J&S Fried Dough, Macarollin’, Wraps on Wheels, Lugia’s Ice Cream, Mr. Squeeze Lemonade, and Snowie/Sugary Delights. The concert will follow shortly after, beginning at 6:00 p.m., and will feature the energetic, country-inspired sounds of the Zac Brown Tribute Band.

The event honors the life and legacy of Jerry J. Helfer, a beloved public servant and lifelong advocate for the Greece community. Known for his warm personality and unwavering dedication, Helfer made a lasting impact on those around him. He began his service to the town as a member of the Greece Youth Board, and later served as a Greece Town Councilman from 1998 to 2009. In January 2014, he was appointed Deputy Supervisor, a role he held until his unexpected passing in July of that year.

“Jerry Helfer was a man of exceptional character and virtue who always exhibited kindness to anyone he encountered,” reads the official statement from town leaders. “Throughout his life, Jerry dedicated his time and talents to making our community a better place.”

To carry forward his legacy, the town established the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship, which recognizes young individuals who embody Helfer’s core values—integrity, service, and leadership. The scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate high moral character, contribute positively to the community, and lead by example.

During the Food Truck Rodeo, attendees will have an opportunity to support this scholarship fund. A donation box will be placed at the event, and contributions are encouraged. Checks can also be made out to “Town of Greece” with “Jerry Helfer Memorial Fund” written in the memo section. All proceeds from the food truck gathering will go directly toward sustaining this important scholarship in Helfer’s name.
