New York – A two-vehicle crash in the town of Colonie prompted a police and emergency response on the evening of May 18, 2025. The incident occurred around 8:41 p.m. near Exit 3 on Interstate 87, according to information released by New York State Police.

Authorities say the accident involved a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Nour H. El Haidari of Albany and another operated by 60-year-old Brian L. Weick from Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. The crash took place as El Haidari was heading eastbound on Albany Shaker Road and approached the intersection with the southbound entrance ramp to I-87.

According to the preliminary investigation, El Haidari was preparing to turn right onto the southbound ramp of the highway but failed to stay to the right of a median. Instead, his vehicle entered the wrong side of the ramp, driving southbound in the northbound lane. That’s when he struck Weick’s vehicle head-on.

Emergency medical services from Colonie responded quickly and evaluated both drivers at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“This could have easily been much worse,” said one responder at the site, highlighting the potential danger of driving the wrong way on a ramp, especially at night.

State Police remained on the scene to examine the crash and manage traffic. After reviewing the incident, officers issued El Haidari a ticket for vehicle and traffic law violations.
