Greece residents encouraged by Supervisor Reilich to gather and honor fallen heroes at the 2025 Memorial Day Parade

Greece, New York – As Memorial Day draws near, Supervisor Bill Reilich is inviting the Town of Greece community to join together in paying tribute to America’s fallen heroes. On Monday, May 26, 2025, residents are encouraged to attend the town’s annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony—an event that brings patriotism, reflection, and community spirit to the streets of Greece.
The parade, organized in collaboration with American Legion Greece Post #468, will begin at 11:00 a.m. and make its way south along Long Pond Road, starting from Janes Road and concluding at the Greece Town Hall Campus. Following closely behind, the town’s Remembrance Ceremony is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. at the Greece Town Hall Pavilion.
Supervisor Reilich emphasized the importance of honoring the day and encouraged residents of all ages to attend. “Memorial Day is a time for us to come together as a community and honor those who have given their lives in service to our country,” he stated. “This parade and ceremony are small but significant ways for us to show our appreciation and keep their memory alive.”
The event, which has become a meaningful tradition in Greece, aims to provide a respectful and heartfelt tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Local organizations, veterans, school groups, and community members are expected to take part in the parade, waving flags and marching with pride.
With a large turnout expected, residents planning to attend should keep a few logistical notes in mind. Parking will be available at the Greece Town Hall, but access to the lot will close around 10:45 a.m. in preparation for the parade. Additionally, Long Pond Road will be closed to traffic between Latta Road and Janes Road from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A portion of Janes Road will also be affected by the temporary closures.
Following the Remembrance Ceremony, both vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area are expected to be heavy, and attendees are advised to be patient and plan accordingly.
Each year, this event serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by service members and offers the community a chance to reflect, remember, and come together. With flags waving, salutes given, and words spoken in gratitude, the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in Greece are not just public events—they are personal moments of reflection shared by a grateful town.
Residents are encouraged to bring their families, dress for the weather, and arrive early to find parking and a good viewing spot along the parade route.
