RIT opens summer semester registration with flexible online and in-person courses for students looking to stay on track

Rochester, New York – Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is now accepting registrations for its 2025 summer semester, offering students an opportunity to stay on track academically, explore new interests, and earn extra credits in both online and on-campus formats.
The summer semester includes multiple scheduling options to fit the needs of both undergraduate and graduate students. The university is offering a 12-week session running from May 14 to August 12, along with two shorter six-week sessions: one from May 14 to June 27 and another from June 30 to August 12. For graduate students looking for a more focused schedule, a seven-week session from May 14 to July 7 is also available.
The flexibility of these summer sessions makes them an appealing option for students with different academic goals. Whether they want to catch up on credits, get ahead in their programs, or dive into undergraduate research, the summer semester is designed to support continued academic progress.
“RIT is giving our students opportunities to remain connected to the university, their professors, and their classmates through summer course offerings,” said Joe Loffredo, RIT associate vice president and registrar. “Students can enroll in rigorous courses and are able to focus solely on those courses, earn extra credits toward their degrees, and continue to exercise their minds throughout the summer.”
In an effort to ease the financial burden and encourage participation, RIT is offering summer grants to eligible matriculated undergraduate students. Those registering for six to eight undergraduate credits can receive up to $2,000, while students who enroll in nine to eleven credits may receive up to $3,500. These grants will be applied directly to the students’ summer tuition bills and are in addition to any other need-based financial aid a student may qualify for.
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will automatically apply the grant to eligible students. It’s important to note that students can only receive one grant, and adjusted awards will be provided to those supported by RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
A wide range of popular courses will be offered during the summer term. Students can choose from core subjects like College Algebra, Introduction to Statistics I and II, Applied Statistics, and Calculus, as well as electives such as Introduction to Psychology and Interpersonal Communication. College Physics and other general education classes will also be available, giving students plenty of options to tailor their summer coursework to their goals.
Courses are available in both in-person and online formats, offering maximum flexibility for students who may be balancing work, internships, or travel during the summer months.
For those interested in viewing the complete list of offerings or registering, more information is available on the RIT Summer Semester 2025 website. Students with additional questions are encouraged to contact the Registrar’s Office directly at [email protected].
With open registration, generous grants, and a wide variety of courses, RIT is making it easier than ever for students to stay engaged and productive over the summer.
