Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 64 year old resident found outside his house in Harriman

Harriman, New York – Authorities have launched an investigation after a local resident was found deceased outside his home on Silver Maples Drive. The Village of Harriman Police Department responded to a 911 call early Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, and discovered the body of 64-year-old William P. Scheels.

According to officials, the emergency call came in at approximately 7:49 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed that Scheels was unresponsive outside his residence. Local police quickly secured the area and requested additional support from the New York State Police, who have now taken over the investigation.

Details surrounding the circumstances of Scheels’ death remain unclear.
