Penfield, New York – As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, the Town of Penfield Parks Department is working hard to prepare local parks and facilities for the busy season ahead. With spring in full swing, residents will soon be able to enjoy their favorite outdoor activities, thanks to ongoing maintenance and improvements taking place across town.

Following the long winter months, park crews have been busy refinishing picnic tables, repairing sod, and clearing debris to ensure that green spaces are ready for visitors. Over the next few weeks, additional projects are set to be completed, including installing nets on sports courts around town. “I know people are excited to get out and play, especially pickleball,” a Parks Department representative shared. “It’s our goal to have all the nets up by mid-April.” For those looking for specific information regarding court reservations and use, the Recreation Department is available at (585) 340-8655.

In addition to sports facilities, the Alpheus Clark House and its surrounding area are currently under construction, which has prompted some adjustments for visitors to Shadow Pines. To ensure continued access and ease of use, the Parks team has implemented several solutions:

• Parking spots in a portion of the south lot have been re-striped to improve layout efficiency.
• An overflow parking area will be available on the grassy area just north of the main lot once the weather conditions allow. Designated spaces will be painted for clarity.
• Temporary trail and walkway connections are being explored to maintain accessibility.

Meanwhile, throughout April, park crews will be inspecting playgrounds and trails, mulching garden beds, aerating athletic fields, and rolling grassy areas to keep them in top shape for community use. By the end of the month, the town’s mowing contractor will begin regular maintenance, ensuring that all parks and town properties remain well-groomed through the season.

As outdoor activities ramp up, the Parks Department reminds residents to follow all park rules and regulations to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Key guidelines include:

• Park properties are closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. unless otherwise posted.
• Trail access is permitted from dawn to dusk.
• Visitors should carry out any trash they bring in and dispose of it properly.
• Dogs must be leashed at all times, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after them.
• Recreational fires and motorized vehicles are not allowed within park areas.
• Swimming and foraging are prohibited.

The Parks Department takes pride in providing quality recreational spaces for the community and works diligently to keep facilities in top condition. “We do our best to keep all properties looking great,” a spokesperson stated. “If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me, and I’ll be happy to help.”

With the warmer months just around the corner, residents can look forward to enjoying Penfield’s parks, trails, and amenities, knowing that the town is committed to maintaining beautiful, safe, and accessible spaces for all to enjoy.
