World of Inquiry boys basketball team achieves a historic milestone by securing a spot in the state final four

Rochester, New York – The World of Inquiry School No. 58 boys basketball team has etched its name in history with an unforgettable run to the state final four. The Griffins’ journey has captivated the entire Rochester City School District, uniting students, staff, and the community in celebration of their incredible achievement.
The team secured its spot in the final four after an impressive victory over Akron in the Class B Far West Regional on Friday, March 14. Leading the charge in that game was Kanaz Linder, who put up 16 points, followed closely by Devin Dillon with 13 points and Curtis Bell with 11 points. Their combined effort propelled the Griffins to their biggest stage yet.
Now, the team is preparing for its toughest challenge so far. On Saturday, March 22, at 11:45 a.m., World of Inquiry will face Marcellus from Section III in the state semifinal in Binghamton. The game represents the culmination of an extraordinary season filled with dedication, hard work, and perseverance.
The journey to this momentous occasion has been nothing short of spectacular. On March 8, the Griffins secured their first-ever Class B Section V championship in a thrilling matchup against Waterloo. Playing at the Blue Cross Arena, the team delivered an outstanding performance, emerging with a 62-53 victory and claiming the Section V Class B1 title.
A key figure behind the team’s success is Head Coach Willie Mason, who was recently recognized as Section V’s Class B1 Coach of the Year. His leadership and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the team’s identity, fostering a winning mentality, and pushing the players to new heights.
This season has been a testament to the Griffins’ resilience, determination, and unbreakable team spirit. As they step onto the court for the state semifinal, the entire RCSD community stands behind them, cheering them on with pride and excitement. Regardless of the outcome, the Griffins have already made history, and their journey will be remembered for years to come.
