Rochester City School District proudly recognizes ten exceptional young women for academic success and leadership during Women’s History Month

Rochester, New York – The Rochester City School District (RCSD) celebrated the achievements of ten outstanding young women at a special event in honor of Women’s History Month. Held at the district’s Central Office, the ceremony recognized these scholars for their academic success, leadership skills, and dedication to serving their communities. Surrounded by family, friends, and educators, the students were presented with the prestigious Susan B. Anthony Award, a symbol of their commitment to making a meaningful impact.
In addition to honoring these exceptional students, the RCSD also presented the Community Service Award to Luva Alvarez. Her leadership and dedication to empowering parent leaders earned her this distinguished recognition, highlighting the vital role of community engagement in education.

• Sharelis Torres – Edison Career & Technology High School
• Julieann Falu – James Monroe High School
• Hazel Roberts – Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School Commencement Academy
• Jah’Kyla Bullock – Padilla High School
• Charish Jones-Carter – Rochester Early College High School
• Sahar Hatimi – Rochester International Academy
• Grayce Peltz – School of the Arts
• Myleanna Griner – School Without Walls
• Coco McCoy – World of Inquiry School No. 58
The event not only celebrated these scholars’ accomplishments but also reinforced the importance of recognizing young women who exemplify leadership and service. The Susan B. Anthony Award is named after the renowned suffragist and activist who fought tirelessly for women’s rights, making it a fitting tribute to the next generation of female leaders.
“Congratulations to these outstanding students for their well-deserved recognition,” an RCSD representative stated. “Their achievements reflect strength, resilience, and leadership among women throughout history.”
