Edison Tech Teacher honored with prestigious Golden Apple Award

Rochester, New York – A special education teacher at Edison Career and Technology High School has been recognized for her unwavering dedication to students. Chiquita Graham was recently awarded the Golden Apple Award by News 8, a prestigious honor given to educators who make a significant impact in their schools and communities.
Graham, who has been teaching since 2004, joined Edison two years ago and quickly became a valued and beloved member of the school. Her colleagues took notice of her passion, dedication, and ability to connect with students, leading them to nominate her for the award.
A Recognition Well Earned
Graham was nominated by three fellow teachers, who highlighted her exceptional commitment to her students. One of them, Molly Munding, praised Graham’s ability to foster meaningful relationships with both students and families.

“Ms. Graham is dedicated to supporting and connecting with her students in impactful ways. Her ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff is remarkable and heartfelt,” said Munding.
Graham expressed gratitude for the recognition and appreciation for her colleagues who nominated her.
“I do what I do for our young people, and I love it,” she said. “The three ladies that nominated me are amazing co-workers. When I was new to the building, they welcomed me with open arms and treated me like a little sister.”
A Teacher Who Inspires
Graham’s approach to teaching goes beyond academics. She is known for supporting students on a personal level, ensuring they feel valued, heard, and motivated to succeed. Her ability to form genuine connections with students has made a lasting impact on the Edison community.
