State Police arrest man on drug charges during Rotterdam traffic stop

Rotterdam, New York – A traffic stop on Interstate 90 in the town of Rotterdam led to the arrest of an Onondaga man on multiple drug-related charges, according to New York State Police.

Authorities say that on February 26, 2025, at approximately 3:15 a.m., troopers observed a vehicle moving unsafely from its lane while traveling westbound on I-90. They conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 44-year-old Mark J. Dority. Dority was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

During the stop, troopers noticed that Dority showed signs of impairment, prompting a further investigation. A search of the vehicle uncovered a crack pipe, multiple bags containing a white, powdery substance, and various drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Dority was taken into custody and charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree (a felony)
• Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia

Following his arrest, Dority was transported to Schenectady County Jail, where he remained in custody awaiting arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Rotterdam Court on March 27, 2025.
