Rochester, New York – Researchers, faculty, and students at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) now have access to Overleaf, a powerful online platform designed to streamline academic writing and collaboration. With this integration, users can leverage Overleaf’s extensive features to create research papers, theses, and grant proposals with ease. The platform supports real-time collaboration, allowing multiple users to edit documents simultaneously. Its built-in templates for academic journals and conference papers also ensure that submissions adhere to publication standards without the hassle of manual formatting.
Distinguished astrophysicist and John Vorous Endowed Professor, Manuela Campanelli, highlighted the platform’s impact on research productivity. “We are immensely thankful to RIT for giving our researchers access to Overleaf’s institutional version,” said Campanelli. “Overleaf’s real-time collaboration and comprehensive version control features, reminiscent of GitHub, make teamwork, like what we do at the Center for Computational Relativity and Gravitation, effortless and significantly enhance our productivity in academic writing. We are eagerly anticipating the benefits of the upgraded version, and are grateful that Overleaf enabled us to continue using it without disruption during the overleaf transition period. This is a tremendous asset as we prepare to publish new scientific papers and proposals.”
The implementation of Overleaf was made possible through a joint effort by RIT’s Information and Technology Services and the Procurement Services Office. Their goal was to enhance research collaboration and efficiency across the institution.

For RIT’s academic community, this addition marks a significant step forward in simplifying the research writing process. Whether drafting complex mathematical formulas or co-authoring publications with colleagues, Overleaf provides the tools needed to ensure a seamless and productive experience.
