Rochester City School District opens new Parent Center to connect families with support and community resources

Rochester, New York – The Rochester City School District has opened a new Parent Center at 200 Genesee Street, creating a central place where families can find information, assistance and connections to services. District officials say the new space is intended to make it easier for parents and caregivers to get the support they need without having to search for different resources on their own.

The district officially marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, introducing the center as a welcoming location for families throughout Rochester. Instead of sending parents to different offices or organizations for help, the Parent Center brings several types of support together under one roof.

For many families, finding the right school resource can be confusing, especially when they are dealing with questions about their children’s education or other needs. The new center is designed to provide a clear starting point. Parents can visit the location to ask questions, receive assistance or speak with staff about concerns involving their children.

The Parent Center also includes a variety of practical resources. Among them is a clothing closet that can help families access needed clothing. A food pantry is available as another resource for families, while a digital resource lab provides access to technology and other tools.

The space also includes an area specifically set aside for community partners. That feature allows organizations working with Rochester families to have a presence at the center and connect more directly with parents and caregivers.
